Lord Of Swords by Ann Lawrence BOOK REVIEW!!!

Title: Lord of Swords

Author: Ann Lawrence

Published: Self Published

Ann Lawrence was nice enough to give me an early copy of this book for review. Ann this is for you :) I hope you like my review!

She went to the stone circle to watch the druids. As she drew her horse to a halt in front of the stones she could instantly feel the energy coming from the stones. The druids usually show up on a night with a full moon such as this night. What she saw though wasn't what she was expecting.
A man was walking toward the circle, but it was clear by the way he was dressed that he was not a druid and he was alone. As he gets closer she hides in hopes that she will not be seen by this strange man.

Guy de Maci has traveled a long way in the hopes of finding some evidence of his son who has gone missing. So far with no luck at finding him Guy has followed the clues left behind to Stonewold. He know that he must look like a simple man just looking for a job in order to investigate the area including the dungeons. Guy stops at the circle to rest and hide some valuable things that might give away the fact that he is a knight. Guy is risking a lot by abandoning his duties as a knight and against the Kings rules. He never thought that Lady Joia would be watching him from the shadows.

Lady Joia is being forced to marry a man she doesn't love. Being forced to marry a cruel man just for land and protection for her father's castle and heir to the throne, her younger brother Crispin. Her father wouldn't be so worried if her older brother wasn't killed in a recent battle. The body was unrecognizable but their hearts hurt for him. To make matters even stranger Joia is falling for Crispin's new bodyguard Guy de Maci. No one in the town of Stonewold realizes that all the answers to their problems is right under their nose.

Guy is in with the King of Stonewold and has become a bodyguard for the kings youngest son Crispin. Guy loves watching Cris but he must never lose sight of the what he is there for. Find his son and leave. He has to be alive because Guy would know if he was killed....wouldn't he??? He has to be at Stonewold everything is leading to Stonewold. guy can feel himself getting closer to answers, but once he gets them will they be the answer he wants?
Guy is there for his son only! Why is it so hard for him to remember that? His motives become cloudier as he starts to fall for Lady Joia. He is so close....yet so far.

Thoughts I loved this book a lot more than I thought I would. I love knights so much and this time period I just eat up! I will gladly admit that this book kept me on the edge of my seat with it's multiple plots and I completely satisfied with how it ended. I would have given it 5 stars but I figured out a key point in the plot before it was made known so I only gave it 4 stars. Ann Lawrence did a good job! I would recommend this book for anyone who likes the Medieval time period and of course sexy Knights!

Library Haul and Review items!

I have been super busy as of lately and I am currently reading three books at once! Scary I know and I will probably stop reading one of them and just read it another time because I have other books that need to get read and quickly. We went to the library this past week and I will go ahead and admit it right now that I have a weakness when it comes to the library I almost always come home with and armful of books or graphic novels. When we went this week it wasn't any different I ended up coming home with all but #3 of the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World graphic novels and I also got the graphic novel version of Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare which I am already to the middle of. Whats funny about the Clockwork Angel graphic novel is that Magnus Bane looks so much different than the guy they got to play him in the City of Bones movie.
I love the guy they picked to play him in the movie I just feel like the one in the graphic novel version is a bit Lestat the vampire looking (just my opinion). I can't wait to finished that and do a review for it though because I am just in love with the whole Infernal Devices series.

While I was walking around running my eyes over the shelves of books I came across Lovely,Dark and Deep by Amy Mcnamara and what caught my eye was the beautiful cover art I fell in love and had to bring it home with me even though now that I think about it I might not have a chance to get to it which makes me sad. I wasn't expecting to pick up anything that was out of my mission which was Scott Pilgrim but when I also found The Fall of Arthur by J.R.R. Tolkien  I figured "what the hell" I will bring them both home with me and read them. The first night I was reading three at once Clockwork Angle, The Fall of Arthur, and Lord of Swords by Ann Lawrence (I got an E-copy of this book for review and so far am loving it). Everything was going well until the 2nd day when I found out that I have another book which should be coming in the mail for review (not going to disclose the title of the book until I have the review copy in my hand) and I also have the whole Watersong series which the publisher was nice enough to finish the set for me so I could review it....
SO MANY BOOKS AND NOT ENOUGH TIME!  To top it off I also won a copy of The Exptionals by Erin Cashman which I have been wanting to read so badly! Sometimes I wish I was like Number 5 from the 1986 film Short Circuit and could read a book as quickly as a person could flip through the pages as if to look for pictures, then I wouldn't be slowly disappearing behind a massive stack of novels all telling me to read them.  Reviews come fist though because the publishers or writers were nice enough to give me a copy of their book so I will always bump them up first!
So be prepared people because there is some serious reading going on and a influx in review is bound to happen!

For Review!

The Search For Artemis by P.D. Griffith BOOK REVIEW!!!

                                                         Amazon ** Barnes&Noble

Title: The Search For Artemis

Author: P.D. Griffith

Published: Gryff Publishing

For some reason this book reminded me of the X-Men.....

"Through extensive genetic research, we have isolated a particular gene outside the normal human genome that is unique to psychokintetic - capable individuals like yourself - we call it the Prometheus gene. We are still unsure of it's origins, but we do know that the gene remains dormant until one's apocratusis. This event typically occurs during the pubescent phase of development at a time when the subject experiences a moment of heightened stress."

Landon's life is ok, if ok means your family lives in a tiny apartment cluttered with books. We are talking books EVERYWHERE! That's how Landon's mom likes it because his mother loves books, anything to block out your real life. For many years Landon's mom has sheltered Landon from the violence that goes on daily in this household. Landon's dad pretty much runs everything in the seance that you do as he says or else and the or else is always bad. Landon's mom shelters him from it all, when things start to get bad then it's reading time for Landon and he is sent off to his room. Something was different on this night though and it wasn't just the heat. Landon's dad was in a really bad mood and almost didn't make it through dinner. Landon was quickly sent to his room after dinner but didn't stay there when he heard loud screaming and banging out in the living room. Landon knew that his parents fight but on this night the strange banging sounds and the sobbing got to him and he chose to investigate. Walking in to the living room Landon saw his father standing over his mother beating her up pretty badly. Panic ran through Landon and he quickly rush to help his mother but was told to leave. Not being able to prevent his mother from receiving repeated blows to her body Landon went into a strong state of panic and grabbing his head he closed his eyes to scream as loud as he could. There was a large bang before the apartment went silent. Landon opened his eyes, the room was turned upside down with furniture turned over and books all over the place. What caught Landon's attention was the fact that there were still things floating in the air almost like it was suspended with a string or rope. Panic set in as Landon tries to figure out what happened, that's when he notices the blood on the floor and following it he finds the body of his father crushed to death and laying in a heap on the floor.
"What did I do?!" runs through Landon's mind as he looks around at the disaster.
Landon sees his mother also in a heap on the floor a large gash covering her head.
"She's dead...I killed my own mother."
A knock on the door shakes Landon back to reality and in a panic he dashes to his bedroom for a bag. Throwing some clothes in it he escapes out his bedroom window.
" I am a murder...I don't know what one will believe me."

Landon really has no memory of what really happened and having no place to go he spends a few days living on the street until large men in suits start to chase him through town. Landon thinking it's the cops after him outruns them every chance he gets until one day they got to close for comfort almost catching Landon. That's when he hears a woman's voice in his head tell him to run to a location out of the public eye to come with her. Landon didn't trust her at first until she said she could help him and that she knows what happened.
Landon is flown away to a place called the Gymnasium where there are other teenagers and children like him. The Gymnasium is there to teach them how to control their abilities to better themselves for the world...or so they are told when they get there. Turns out there are many secrets left unanswered and there are also people being hurt....tortured even. What is the Gymnasium hiding? What are the teachers training them for? Find Artemis.....she has the answers......

Thoughts: I loved the story line and even though I figured out most of the story long before the truth was told I still enjoyed reading it. The only thing I didn't like about it is the fact that the story just stops right as things are getting good but I understand since it is a series it just annoyed me a bit.

Quotes :  "To speak the name is to control the thing."
" You must empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like waster. If you put water into a  cut it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend."

A Pup Named Cork + Life and Stuff

I tend to have a lot of Dorky girl problems like the fact that I finished a book Tuesday and I still haven't wrote a book review for it. Why you may ask well because of Ni No Kun.
It's a Playstation 3 game and I seriously play like 6 hours of it yesterday alone. I will do a game review for it when I beat the game. It was made by the guy that made Spirited Away the anime movie so the game's characters look a like the characters from that movie.
In other news I won some books this month and I will doing reviews for two of them and they are Elegy and Tidal by Amanda Hocking. I haven't read any of the books in this series but I have requested them from the library and I will probably have them by the end of next week so I can start reading them for review. I also got a box of books from Harlequin which they expected me to pay for when I didn't order them. I called to cancel any shipping of unordered boxes of box and they guy was nice enough to let me keep them free of charge which was exciting for me because I had gotten on book in the box that I have been wanting to read. That book would be Love Overdue by Pamela Morsi which I tried to get a copy of from Netgalley and I couldn't get one and now I finally have one and I have super excited about it!

On a more serious note I would like to talk about a puppy name Cork who was recently rescued from the Human Society in Columbus Ohio by Skeletor. Skeletor and Penguin (his fiance) went to the Human Society this past Sunday and picked up little 4 month old Beagle mix pup Cork and brought him home. A 4 month old puppy should be super energetic and wanting to play but they just thought "we just got him home maybe he is just adjusting" because he didn't want to play barely ate anything and just wanted to lay around. The next day comes and Cork still doesn't want to play and won't eat. Then Skeletor noticed that he wasn't really using the bathroom very well and when he brought Cork back into the house Cork vomited on the floor. Skeletor took Cork to the vet right away and after some tests were done it turned out that Cork had the Parvo virus which if left untreated is fatal. Skeletor worried asked if he had some how gotten it in the little time that Cork was with him. The vet said it takes up to 4 days for any signs of Parvo show. Well Skeletor only had him for night so there was no way for him to have gotten it from the home. The virus had to have given to poor Cork at the Human Society. Now I know some of you would be thinking "well just take him back" well the vet said that have delt with the Human Society before and if Cork was given back they would just refund his money and then put Cork down without even trying to treat him. Skeletor said "we are going to treat him" then they told him how much it would cost...over $1,000. Skeletor and Penguin will have to make payments on it because who is just walking around with over $1,000 just laying around? Cork is better now and was able to come home last night but it still shocks me that the Human Society there is so ignorant of the virus in their facility. They should take extra care of this virus since in order to get a new dog for your home if you already have a dog is to bring the dog from home to meet their dog first and that short of a contact could expose the person dog to Parvo. Even a  person just going to the Human Society for a visit has a risk of bringing home the virus. Human Societies need to pay more attention to their animals and ALWAYS keep watch for signs of sickness. I also wish they would have a bigger heart and understand that an animal isn't a torn shirt that can be taken back and gotten rid of they are living things that deserve a chance at life even if it is a slim chance it should be given.

To lighten the mood a bit from the last story I figured I would let you guys see some doodles and magazine clippings I have done in my journal I keep in Real Life.
