The Giver by Lois Lowry Mini Review!

                                                           Amazon ** Barnes&Noble

Title: The Giver

Author: Lois Lowry

Published: Laurel Lea

This story is about a boy named Jonas and his life inside a "perfect" society known as the community. Inside this society choices are made for you from the food you eat to the spouse/children you have which you can only have two children one boy and one girl. Even your job is chosen for you when you turn 12. Jonas was chosen as a receiver of memory as his job it is the highest ranked job and it means that Jonas would be the keeper of all the memories of past and present that are not controlled. Jonas ends up finding out something really sinister about the way the community "release" people who are either to old, a criminal, or strong willed and he almost loses his mind with the truth behind the lies that he grew up with.

Thoughts: This book was only 23 chapters long so it was a quick read but I found myself falling to sleep at times while reading it. I thought the story was a bit boring and you don't really get to really know any of the characters until the last three chapters. Also the story is a bit jumpy from scene to scene and it I felt like the story was rushed until the end when it does just that End. A lot was left unsaid and you never really know what happened because it just ends and I hate that.
