Because by Jack A. Langedijk and V.V. Cam BOOK REVIEW!

                                                                      **  Amazon  **

Title: Because

Author: Jack A. Langedijk

Illustrator: V. V. Cam

After a tragic accident mountain climbing Roberto a professional mountain climber is now faced with the toughest adventure of his life. Trouble by not being the same person he once was Roberto becomes angered and begins to push the ones he loves away. With his family life falling apart around him it becomes a race against time for his family to save Roberto from losing what life he has left.

Thoughts: this was a hear breaking story of a man so close to falling. This is a glimpse into the struggling life of someone with a disability and the challenges they face. At times I found this book hard to read due to the fact that it's written so well that you are living it rather than reading it. This book proves just how strong a person can be after tragedy changes a life.

A Song That Reminds Me Of The Book!

The One-of-a-Kind Cat Book by Ciye Cho MINI BOOK REVIEW!

                                                          **   Buy Here  **

Title: The One-of-a-Kind Cat Book

Author: Ciye Cho

What if cats were like humans in the way that we do things. What if a cat were a movie star, chef, genius, or even a detective solving crimes. How would they go about their lives? Would they go about the the same way we do or would it be just a little bit different because they are cats?

Thoughts: This is a lovely illustrated cat book that isn't about just any cats. In this book you will follow the many different lives of many different cats as they take on the rolls that are usually meant for humans. This book is for anyone that likes cats or is just looking for something funny and quick to read. My cats at home approve!

Published: Laurel-leaf Books

This is a story about a feisty 10 year old named Keladry (Kel) and her quest to become a female knight. Now off to page school Kel goes and with her follows her dream of Knighthood. Kel soon realizes that school is an environment in which she was disliked before she arrived. As a knight you take an oath to do the right thing, Kel tries to teach the other the right things to do all while trying to prove her worth among men. With the odds stacked against her knighthood might be farther away than she planned.

Thoughts: Tamora Pierce does it again with yet another beautiful novel about over coming the norm and rising on top! This book will make you angry and cheer for the main character as you follow her through life at the castle. You will also fall in love with a band of fantastic characters that are put in such detail that you feel like they are your friends. I loved this book and will continue on with this series as soon as I can get my hands on the next book! I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a beautiful story as well as a quick read.

The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander MINI BOOK REVIEW!

                                                     Amazon ** Barnes&Noble

Title: The Book of Three

Author: Lloyd Alexander

Published: Square Fish

Assistant Pig-Keeper Taran is bored with his life. He longs for a great adventure. Then one day Prydain's only oracular pig gets loose and runs away into the woods. Taran is responsible for Hen Wen the pig so he takes it upon himself to find her even if it means leaving his simple life behind. Taran quickly finds out that with adventure comes danger when he comes face to face with the great Horned King and his army who want nothing but to destroy all in their path.
A Simple task of finding a pig becomes more of an heroic task. With the help of some new found friends Taran hopes to find Hen Wen before the Horned King does. Together with his new friends Taran learns that heroism is no easy task.

Thoughts: This is the first book in the The Chronicles of Prydain series and I must say that I am not really a fan of this book. The plot sounds intriguing enough but for some reason I found this book to be quite boring. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a middle grade book and that is why I thought it was to juvenile and boring. I may still give the rest of the books in the series a chance in the hopes that they get better.

Thoughts: I enjoyed this book so much and I can't wait until the next one comes out because the end sort of leaves you hanging. The plot was excellent and reminded me a lot of The Giver mixed with Divergent so if you enjoyed those two series then I would highly recommend this book to you. I also enjoyed how detailed the characters were and the plot is amazing so I can't wait to see what more is done with this story.

Knocked Out by my Nunga - Nungas by Louise Rennison MINI BOOK REVIEW!

                                                             Amazon ** Barnes&Noble

Title: Knocked Out by my Nunga - Nungas

Author: Louise Rennison

Published: Hapertempest

Georgia Nicolson is an average British teenager only she is dating a Sex God. Things couldn't be better for Georgia until her ex confesses his never ending love for her at a party. One of her friends is interested in Georgia's ex but she can't help having a bit of feelings for him that start to become worse. Now Georgia can't get her ex out of her head and is faced with a big decision does she break it off with her Sex God to get back together with her ex all the while breaking her friends heart in the process, or does she stay with the Sex God and ignore the thoughts of her ex.

Thoughts: I usually find these books quite funny but for some reason this one just seems like Georgia is becoming more self centered and rude. I understand that she is a teenager but even so I didn't treat people the way she treats people when I was a teenager. Other than that the book was a quick read and I am curious to see who she eventually ends up with so I will continue on with the series. I just wasn't a fan of this installment.

The Corrupted Kingdom by Jesse Galena MINI BOOK REVIEW!

                                                                   **  Amazon **

Title: The corrupted Kingdom

Author: Jesse Galena

Published: self Published

What if I told you that there is a promise of riches, cures, answers, and justice all at this one kingdom? The only problem is getting to them is easier said than done as the place is riddled with monsters and fears from those who enter. Would you still go?

This story follows different people as they make their way through to kingdom of fears to try and get what they always wanted. They aren't alone as ghosts. monsters, ghouls, and warriors chase them down. Now the question is if what they want is worth the risk of death or going mad inside this kingdom of darkness.

Thoughts: I was given this book for an honest review. That being said I will say that I wasn't really a fan of this book. It was a quick read but I found it a bit confusing with the chapter titles and all the people that the book follows. It takes you a minute to figure out who you are with when the next part comes which at times was a little annoying. I will still give it a pretty good rating though since the editing was pretty good, the characters though could use a bit more information about them so they aren't just people that have been thrown into a story. I want characters that are developed / complex with back story that makes me feel like the people are real. Now that my thoughts are down I will say that if you are looking for a quick action adventure / horror story to read then pick this one up, don't let my opinions alone stop you if you if you find this book interesting as it's just my own opinion.

Skeletor's Thoughts on Escape from Witchwood Hollow by Jessica Elizabeth

                                                                     **  Amazon **

Title: Escape from Witchwood Hollow

Author: Jessica Elizabeth

Published: Curiosity Quills Press

After losing her parents in a horrific terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, fifteen-year-old Honoria and her older brother escape New York City to Arnn. In the lure of that perpetual darkness, Honoria finds hope, when she should be afraid.

Perhaps the witch can reunite her with her lost parents. Awakening the witch, however, brings more than salvation from mourning, for Honoria discovers a past of missing children and broken promises.

To save the citizens of Arnn from becoming the witch’s next victims, she must find the truth behind the woman’s madness.

Thoughts: Spanning over three different time periods 3 women’s stories overlap to create an interesting history and story to the witch. I am sucker for any story with a witch but I get bored with historical fiction. I thought the story was ok, it was slow and you can tell that the author was young when they wrote it. The main character lost her parents in 9/11 and spirals out of control from there trying to deal with the loss. The whole 9/11 aspect was not necessary and it felt like any tragedy would have worked in its place but the author wanted to be edgy. I found the story slow moving and not as entertaining as I wished. The magic and witchcraft was more historical and less paranormal. I feel like it could use some good editing.

Breakable by Tammara Webber BOOK REVIEW!

                                                            Amazon ** Banes&Noble

Title: Breakable

Author: Tammara Webber

Published: Berkley

There used to be a point in time separating before from after. On one side lay everything good and beautiful - a dream that couldn't be touched in waking moments. Memories of my Mother were trapped there, and I fought to forget them Because they did nothing but hurt and condemn. The opposite side was struggle. Endurance. My after was raw reality, and there was nothing to do but survive it.

Landon has been barely scraping through life since the loss of his mother, always being different makes him stick out among his peers. after the loss his father moved them to live with his grandfather in a new town and new school. Landon was an outcast for a while and barely moved through life waiting for the one true love that he has always felt was there but seems farther and farther away with each horrible year. After getting in with the wrong crowd family friends step in to take Landon under their wing with the exception that he gets into the college that the family friend works at. The hard work paid off more than Landon can ever expect since no only did he get into college but he is a tutor for Mr. Heller's eco class who is the family friend, now going by his middle name Lucas and working many jobs to help pay for college things are looking up for him. It was in eco class that he noticed her, Jacqueline Wallace has been driving Lucas crazy ever since the first day of class. He loves everything about her right down to the way she taps her fingers while she is in class, but Jacqueline is taken and way out of his league if he can just get her out of his head.

Lucas is losing himself in this girl and begins to follow her around just to be nearer to her, that pays off the night of a Halloween party at a frat house that Jacqueline showed up to get over the recent of her boyfriend. Lucas saw her walk out of the party early and close behind was a male following her. Lucas decides it's time to stop all of this nonsense and starts to leave the party thinking Jacqueline was with the male follower who left behind her. Once in the parking lot Lucas was starting to leave when he heard a loud scream coming from the area that Jacqueline parked her truck. Running to her aid Lucas saves Jacqueline from her male attacker only to be greeted by her fear after the attack. Jacqueline will never be the same after that attack and neither will Lucas because no she notices him and as time passes neither of them can get each other out of their heads.

She notices him as he has always noticed her but with they be enough to be each other saviors from crumbling against the secrets and trauma of their pasts.

Thoughts: I would recommend that you read Easy by Tammara Webber first since this is sort of like a companion novel that is told from the males point of view were as Easy is told from the female's point of view. I enjoyed both books equally but this one seemed a bit more heart breaking and left you hurting to comfort the main character Lucas. This story is raw in the sense that it teaches you that not all love stories are all happy ones. I must say that I love the characters very much and I also loved that this book tells you happens at the end instead of just ending like some books tend to do leaving you hanging in the wonder. I would recommend this book to people who want something different in a love story, a love story that stands out among a crowd of cliche books. Tammara Webber will steal your heart with this one.

Vampire Lords of Blacknall Trinity by Shirl Anders BOOK REVIEW!

                                                           Amazon ** Barnes&Noble

Title: Vampire Lords of Blacknall Trinity

Author: Shirl Anders

Published: Allure Books

Four vampire brothers of Blacknall trying their best to keep control over the the cruelness of the vampire population. One of the brothers named Trinity has taken it upon himself to investigate a string of gruesome murders in the area. In the process of trying to track the murder while he was in the process of hunting a new victim Trinity stumbled across a lovely lady in the woods that had been the target new victim. This was no ordinary lady though because 1. she was still a virgin so her pure blood spoke to all the vampires close by tempting them to taste, 2. Trinity's vampire powers such as allure do not work on the lady known as Beth.

Ever since that night in the woods after saving Beth, Trinity can't get her out of his head. Such a fascinating woman that is shrouded in mystery. In the process of trying to figure out who a killer is Trinity can't help himself and is slowly falling in love with the mystery lady he saved in the woods.

Thoughts: Though this book was a bit cliche when it comes to vampire novels I still enjoyed the fact that there were some differences between the vampires in this novel and other novels that I have read. That feature alone was enough to make me enjoy learning about these new vampires. It also helps that I found the characters likeable and believeable. I love the four brother vampires and wish that there were more of this book like as a series but don't let that fool you because there were some problems with the book. One problem I had with this book was a very annoying one indeed and it was the fact that almost everytime Beth was around another person in the book there was some part that was describing her breasts in some sort of manner. My other problem with the book was there was a plot pertaining to a certain person that was rather large but the book didn't finish that plot at all which makes you wonder what the heck happened to this main plot?! Those factors aside I did somewhat enjoy reading this book and I thought the love story was rather sweet and different from others I have read about pertaining to vampire couples.

In a world shrouded by soot and smoke, young Makarria has literally been forbidden to dream.

Legend has foretold the demise of Emperor Thedric Guderian at the hands of a sorceress with royal blood, and the Emperor has made it his legacy to stamp out all magic from the Sargothian Empire in favor of primitive coal fired smelters and steam powered machines. When Guderian’s minions discover a Dreamwielder on a seaside farmstead, a chain of events forces Guderian’s new threat—the young Makarria—to flee from her home and embark upon an epic journey where her path intertwines with that of Princess Taera, her headstrong brother, Prince Caile, and the northman Siegbjorn, who captains a night-flying airship.

Dogging their every step is the part-wolf, part-raven sorcerer, Wulfram, and Emperor Guderian himself, a man who has the ability to stint magic and a vision to create a world where the laws of nature are beholden to men and machines. Only by learning to control the power she wields can Makarria save her newfound companions and stop the Emperor from irreversibly exterminating both the magic in humans and their bond with nature.

Thoughts: There were some minor errors in the writing and the story left some questions unanswered but besides all that this book was a very elegant read. I love the adventurous life of Eva d'Orsey and I found myself enjoying her story more than Grace's but never the less both stories weaved together beautifully.

Summer on the Cold War Planet By Paula Closson Buck

Genre: Literary Fiction

Release: September 3, 2015

Publisher: Fomite

“Each story he told shed about as much light as a match and made all the dark around it worth wanting to know..."

In the late spring of 1989, Lyddie, a young American art historian, finds herself alone and pregnant when her husband, Phelps, disappears in Kurdish Iraq. Set adrift from the security of their marriage, she returns to the divided city of Berlin where they met four years before, seeking truths she believes Phelps may have kept from her.

Now the ferment at Germany’s borders is spilling into the private lives of their bohemian friends—particularly that of exiled East German painter Axel Herzog. Lyddie has always felt the gravitational pull of Axel’s art and of the stories of mystics he learned as a boy in Greece. And though Phelps once warned her away from Axel, the attraction grows stronger as she uncovers a vulnerability beneath the scorn he learned on the other side of the Wall.

When revelations about Axel’s past force her to retreat to an island in Greece, Lyddie finds she has run headlong into everything she has tried to avoid. In this novel of conflicting allegiances played out between a richly realized late Cold War Berlin and the stark beauty of the Cycladic islands, travellers, natives, and refugees circle one another warily, their fates hanging on the question of which trusts if any, will remain unviolated.

Author Bio

She has lived briefly in both Berlin and the Greek islands, but her current home is in Lewisburg, PA, where she teaches creative writing at Bucknell University.

Title: The Bones of the Earth

Author: Scott Hale

Published: Self Published

Is it wrong to kill a human …
when you’re not human yourself?

It’s been two hundred years since the Trauma, a catastrophic event of a now forgotten origin, wreaked havoc upon the Earth, reducing the human population from billions to thousands, and leaving the survivors as prey to humanoid hunters. Vrana of the Raven is one of these hunters. Her tribe has made killing humans, now known as the Corrupted, its purpose—to “keep the balance”—to ensure that the Corrupted do not rise to power and lay the Earth to ruin once more.

But, one night, in the great northern city-state of Geharra, over ten thousand Corrupted disappear.
And if so many can disappear so quickly, what’s to stop it from happening again elsewhere, or to Vrana’s own?

Thoughts: This book was less sci-fi and more horror. I am not a big fan of horror stories as a part of my fiction intact. I enjoyed the world building that the author employed with his characters, but I am not a fan of grotesque horror. Give me the witches, mythology and sci-fi any day but you can keep the blood guts and horror to a minimum. I am not opposed to mild thrills and twists and turns in my sci-fi but I am notinto the blood shed and scares. Although this is not my genre of choice I can appreciate the authors talent for storytelling and even if it isn’t my story of choice, over all well written but a little too dark and stormy for me.
