                                                          Amazon ** Barnes&Noble

Title: Tree: In Shadow Vol. 1

Author: Warren Ellis

Published: Image Comics

It's been 10 years since the tall structures resembling trees appeared on Earth's surface. Since then they have done nothing but stand there and expel acidic like liquid from their roots ever so often killing those below.... It's been 10 years since the people or Earth found out that there is intelligent life in space and since then the people of Earth have slowly started to die from mass extinctions of their own making. The world as we know it has been thrown into chaos pinning people against each other in the search for power, while far away from the chaos scientists are trying to figure out what the trees are and there purpose for coming to Earth. Everything begins to seem much larger than the people....the trees.....even the planet, the trees are just the messengers....no we must figure out what they are trying to tell us.

Thoughts: This graphic novel jumped around quite a bit between different characters which was a bit confusing at times. With all the flip flopping around between the different characters you didn't really get much of a handle on what was going on until almost the end. I will warn you though that this graphic novel is violent and had parts with nudity and adult themes. I would recommend this to people that love science fiction / dystopian type stories.

Quote:  "In the poverty and meagerness of their art, call hills, and motionless trees, and unmarked stone by the name of gods, though in no way nearer to gods than is their form."
