Title: Lady Midnight

Author: Cassandra Clare

A murderer is on the loose in the LA area leaving a trail of Shadowhunter and downworlder bodies in their wake. Though this matter is concerning their are much more pressing issues at hand causing the murderer to slip through the cracks. Among other things the Dark War has happened turning Shadowhunters against the Fairies. As a result of the war the Shadowhunters made new laws forbidding the aid to any Fairy in need of assistance even in dire situations. The war cause a lot of pain and struck the Shadowhunters hard but the pain was greater for the Blackthorn family due to the loss of their parents. Also because of the new no fairy law, Mark and Helen Blackthorn are forced from their home and the rest of their family due to their mixed Fairy blood. Left with two less siblings and no parents Julian is forced to take the place of a parental figure to his younger siblings but he won't be doing it alone as Emma quickly becomes even more of a part of their family when Julian becomes her parabatai. The two grew up together so it wasn't such a far fetched idea that they become bonded but with the new attachment Julian is finding it harder and harder to hide his feelings for Emma, there is only one problem.....it's forbidden. There are many secrets held in the LA institute and Julian is one of the only few in the house that know them but when things start to fall apart he finds it harder and harder to keep the secrets kept.

Emma Carstairs has been on the search for the murder of her parents ever since the death of her parents. The Clave accused the man who caused the Dark War for their deaths since it happened around the same time but Emma isn't buying it and she isn't the only one. The Clave has closed the case in the deaths of her parents and because of that Emma must find the real killer on her own or risk the murderer continuing to murder without conviction

Thoughts: As always Cassandra Clare has done it again. I love this book just as much as I have loved the others that I have read. I love the fresh new faces in the Shadowhunter world as well as the old favorites. I will be continuing on with this story line! <3
